What: Grand Island was called “La Grande Isle” by the French who discovered it and it still retains much of its rural character. We invite you to explore our island and visit our beautiful gardens. From East River to West River, you’ll find a variety of garden sizes and styles. Visit hosta collectors, cottage gardens, shade gardens, extensive perennial gardens, and one of Grand Island’s original farms with its pollinator meadow. Our gardeners are happy to welcome you to the Island, to share their efforts, and to “garden it forward.”
Special Features Visit one of our two state parks. Stroll the boardwalk at Beaver Island State Park or walk the trails at Buckhorn Island State Park for views of the mighty Niagara River that surrounds us.
