The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, situated on the shore of Lake Erie, provides living memorials that draw not only visitors from Western New York but from across the entire nation. The park has an estimated annual attendance of 500,000, and  is one of 2018’s recipients of the Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grant. This funding was used to continue their transformation of the Buffalo waterfront into a more vibrant and exciting entrypoint for our city.

This season, six new flower beds were planted in the park. When we spoke to Paul Marzello, the park’s director of development and special projects, he noted the unique combination of historic ships and beautiful gardens on display there. It is a place where one may visit peaceful memorials, attend exciting events, and see smiling faces, and “if you haven’t been here in ten years, you wouldn’t be able to recognize this place.” The Naval Park will be part of this year’s Garden Walk and is a part of beautiful Buffalo that you won’t want to miss!

The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park is located at One Naval Park Cove in the Canalside District. The 2018 Garden Walk is happening this weekend, July 28th and 29th, from 10am to 4pm (both days). Be sure to download a free map or pick up a free map at select sponsor locations which can be found at www.GardenWalkBuffalo.com .

The Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grants are named for Garden Walk Buffalo founder Marvin Lunenfeld. The grants have distributed nearly $100,000 in micro grants to more than 100 projects in the city of Buffalo.
