December 2, 2021, Buffalo, N.Y.: Gardening transforms communities. The creativity and commitment of gardeners help their neighborhoods become more beautiful, with stronger connections  and safer, healthier environments.

As it has for 16 years, Gardens Buffalo Niagara is proud to offer support to local gardeners through its beautification grants. This year, previously separate funding programs covering the entire City of Buffalo have been merged into one, the Marvin Lunenfeld Grants (previously the Lunenfeld and Vibrant Buffalo grants).

Awards of  up to $1000 will be based on the overall project cost and matching funds from government, private contributions, or volunteer sweat equity.

Projects need to be public—seen from the street—and should be designed to bring neighbors together. More information and a link to the application can be found athttps://www.gardensbuffaloniagara.com/lunenfeld-grants

Grant applications are due on or before March 15, 2022. Funded projects must be completed by July 18, 2022. The application process is easy, and we offer assistance if needed. Send questions to grants@buffaloniagara.com or call (716) 247-5004

Building beauty across Buffalo makes our whole region stronger, and Gardens Buffalo Niagara wants to continue to partner with   block clubs and community groups on projects like community gardens, street-side planters, historical garden restoration,  annuals for baskets–pretty much any garden-related project limited only by your imagination!

Gardens Buffalo Niagara creates more vibrant and beautiful communities by sharing our gardens through events like Garden Walk Buffalo, America’s largest garden tour;  the East Side Garden Walk; Tours of Open Gardens on Thursdays and Fridays in July; the Buffalo Style Garden Art Sale; and promoting the 15 other regional garden tours in the region.
